July 08, 2011

Samsung announced the deployment of LTE (Long Term Evolution) network for LG U+ and SK Telecom in Korea, according to a July 5, 2011 report by the telecoms.com. The two networks became commercially available from July 1, 2011. It is reported that both LG U+ and SK Telecom adopted eHRPD (enhanced High-Rate Packet Data). LG U+ projects to provide nation-wide LTE service by 2012, while SK Telecom schedules to expand its LTE coverage to the Seoul Metropolitan Area in 2011 and to entire Korea by 2013 and upgrade the network to LTE-Advanced in 2013.
